Site and handling conditions
3000 lb capacity 120 volt ac electric winch
A 3000 lb capacity 120 volt ac electric winch brief changes with aisle, dock height, available shop power and the duty cycle, not with a generic industry label. Write the building constraint that actually moves the specification.
Inbound pulls often start at a 3000 lb first-layer rating and then fail comparison because one factory quotes bare nameplate and another quotes the same load at a stated load center. Record aisle width, drum path, and whether the motor shares a 120 volt circuit with other shop loads. Duty cycle belongs next to lift height so a short warehouse pull is not priced as a continuous plant move.
Line-side positioning needs travel, mount steel and the number of starts per hour. If an attachment changes the load center, write that change on the RFQ instead of asking factories to guess from a photo. Three-phase supply is not assumed; many US shops still ask for 120 volt single-phase and must say so.
Dock height difference, weather exposure and rope protection change enclosure and hardware. Those are site constraints, not optional footnotes. Keep pit work, new concrete and commissioning as named extras unless the RFQ pulls them into factory scope. Boat, ATV and marine winches stay outside this industrial cluster.
Short-travel shop lifts still need a stated rated capacity and a destination for freight. A cheaper reply that omitted packing or a load test is not a lower total. Ask each factory to keep documents and site work on separate lines. Continue with Load Spec Review when the remaining choice is a substitute rating.
Nameplate versus application load
| Check | Write on the RFQ | Why two quotes diverge |
|---|---|---|
| Rated capacity | 3000 lb with unit and layer | Bare nameplate hides first-layer derating |
| Load center | Attachment or hook offset | Same mass, different geometry |
| Lift height | Travel in in or mm | Drum length and rope layers change |
| Power | 120 V, phase, Hz | Shop circuit limits motor choice |

Send the handling condition with quantity and destination. We will not invent a savings rate against an unnamed market price.
